Ogni colore è prodotto in serie limitata di 50 pezzi.

«Ho insegnato design dell'orologio a Milano.

PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release

DWISS S1 selected for the ADI Design Index 2026

The wandering hours watch designed by Rafael Simões Miranda is on show at the ADI Design Museum in Milan until 15 October 2026

Lugano / Milan, 5 October 2026. The DWISS S1, an automatic wandering hours watch by the independent Swiss brand DWISS, has been selected by ADI's Osservatorio Permanente del Design (Permanent Design Observatory) for the ADI Design Index 2026, the annual publication of ADI, the Italian Association for Industrial Design, presented on 1 October at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

The 2026 selection brings together 340 projects across 14 categories, chosen to reflect some of the most significant developments in contemporary design. As ADI states, the evaluation looks beyond form to innovation, function, materials and technologies, production processes, sustainability, accessibility and the relationship with users.

For 2026, the Observatory's Scientific Committee is made up of Alessandro Colombo, Maite García Sanchis, Valentina Fisichella, Fabrizio Pierandrei and Francesco Zurlo, supported by fourteen regional and fourteen thematic Commissions.

The path to the XXX Compasso d'Oro ADI

Selection for the ADI Design Index is the necessary requirement for the Compasso d'Oro ADI, the award founded in 1954. Projects selected in 2026 and 2027 will form the pool from which candidates for the XXX Compasso d'Oro ADI, scheduled for spring 2028, will be chosen.

The DWISS S1

The S1 tells time differently. Inspired by the Moon's orbit, it carries two satellite discs across the upper arc of the dial: the current hour numeral points to the minute scale and gives the exact time at a glance, while seconds are shown on the central disc.

It is powered by a modified Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret G100 Soigné movement with a 68-hour power reserve. The cushion-shaped stainless steel case has a sandblasted finish with brushed lugs. Each colour is limited to 50 pieces.

" I used to teach watch design in Milan. Seeing the S1 at the ADI Design Museum, alongside the projects selected by the Observatory, is a special moment for DWISS. It shows that a watch can tell time in a new way and still be easy to read," says Rafael Simões Miranda, founder and designer of DWISS.

"Analysing the results that the ADI Permanent Design Observatory presents to us today, we can confirm the idea of design as a unified method, able to engage with every technological activity without owing its meaning to it," said Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, at the presentation of the selection.
